solving problems.

A few people told me that my blog was not resizing properly and my images were overlapping with other tabs.
I'm hoping that I have resolved the issue now with the changes I made.
Also my laptop charger is dead which has forced me to hijack my brother's laptop! Upon changing my template I realized my current banner is on my dead laptop so the template reverted back to my old banner.
As soon as I get some power to my poor laptop, I will change it.
talk soon!

What to wear to dinner with Pooch?

Hello Lover,

YES, I am talking about Pooch Hall aka Derwin Davis from BET's The Game.
Never thought I'd be asking myself the question of what I would wear to dinner with Pooch.
For some reason the first thing that came to mind was polka dots and that is what I wore.
Pooch was in the city to host a party spearheaded by Legacy Entertainment to raise funds for Barry House, which provides emergency shelter for women and children experiencing homelessness.
Before the party, a couple of us went to dinner at Moda, a very chic restaurant in the city.  Pooch walked into the restaurant all Derwinesque.
We shook hands. I said, "Hi, my name is Mo". He said, "Nice to meet you Mo, my name is Pooch" . We hugged then he proceeded to effortlessly introduce himself to everyone else.  He took his seat next to me and ordered the halibut and requested more greens on his plate as he prepares for a shoot for a men's health magazine which I will be keeping an eye out for.  There were 10 of us who ate, talked and laughed as stories were shared around the table. His stories were attention grabbing, he was funny and most charmingly remembered everyone's name and made everyone a part of his tales.  Not only was he goofy, he was such a gentleman and also showed depth.  I remember him sharing about his own desires of stepping out of his comfort zone and challenging himself to be a versatile actor.  I look forward to seeing him in his next project Showtime's Ray Donovan.  Later on in the evening Pooch Hosted the party and boy! it was one heck of night with all proceeds going to Barry House.
This is my second year being a part of this amazing cause and I look forward to supporting it in any way I can in the future. The empowerment of girls and women that I come into contact with is something that I hold dear to my heart!

check Pooch taking a pic of us :)

After Dark

Hello Lover,

Just when I thought I couldn't do anything else this past weekend, Saturday night brought about a black and white party to launch the Jay Wells Face Up Initiative: a charity to help raise money for people living with HIV.
Though I only briefly chatted with Jay, he was such a fun host and above all working hard to provide a  great service to our community.
It was kinda tough to find a black and white outfit in my closet. Honestly, it kinda stressed me out..lol..
anyways, I snapped a few pics of my friends and I, also my mod glasses got around and it ended up being a thing to take pics of my loves in them.
enjoy!

Love,
Mo

p.s. last pic... totally an awesome moment for me. That's me and David one of the actors in La Cage aux Folles currently running at Neptune Theatre.  I was an INSTANT fan when I saw him in the play and have seen him a few times around the city but wasn't close enough to stalk him and introduce myself.  Thanx to my friend, the gorgeous William for introducing me!

On Saturday my friend Tosan and I went around Halifax stopping by some of our fav spots as part of an initiative that was going on this weekend to encourage people to explore the businesses that make our city great! We stopped by a pop up for Brooklyn Warehouse, a restaurant with amazing burgers which were, for just this weekend, available for take out! We also stopped by Black Market, Biscuit General Store,

Mercedes Benz Start Up - Halifax

Hello Lover,

A year ago at fashion week in Toronto I was introduced to the Mercedes Benz Start Up - "A national program to nurture Canada's next generation of fashion designers".  I got to see designers Martin Lim win last year and was excited to hear that they were adding Halifax as one of the cities they would choose finalists from.
A few weeks ago I got an invite to attend the runway show for the 4 semi-finalists they had chosen where one designer would be selected to be on the runway in Toronto.
On Friday I took my handsome brother and 4 of my closest friends with me to the event and we mingled with Halifax's fashion lovers and familiar faces from Toronto.
The winner of the night was Dreamboat Lucy and these two gorgeous ladies deserved it!
Be prepared for an overload of pics.

Love,
Mo

I HEART Bikes

Hello Lover,

A little while ago I got an email from my friend Sarah, who owns I Heart Bikes.
She invited me to take part in a 2 hr VIP bike tour of Halifax to help give her tour guides practice to prepare for the tours she is adding to her business.  After a few emails expressing how much of a punk I was I finally agreed to do it.
For those that are not in Halifax, this place is SUPER hilly. I had moments when I was sure the good Lord was calling me home but I was really set on doing the whole 2 hours! HA!
All in all it was a good ride, I am proof that even if you are unfit and haven't been on a bicycle in a while, it's still doable. The tour guides were SUPER nice, knew their Halifax trivia and aren't in any rush if you need to take a breather.  One of my main fears was being on the same road with the cars and buses but it's safe to say that Halifax drivers are pretty aware of the need to share the road with cyclists!
check out I Heart Bikes to take the tours or a simple rental to go on your own adventure!

Love,
Mo

Red Lips

Hello Lover,

Yesterday I received a cute package from Make Up For Ever.
I couldn't wait to try out the goodies.  Of course I jumped right into a lipstick!
This might have jumped up the list to be my fav matte red lipstick.
It's a great shade of red. I wore this lipstick the whole day today and found that when I needed a touch up all I had to do was fill in the fading spots. It didn't make my lips peel or flake because it had just the right amount of moisture to keep my lips moisturized without losing its matte appeal.
Check me in MUFE Rouge Artist Intense Mat 8
Visit your nearest Sephora to purchase your own or click on the name to buy it online!

Love,
Mo

rare minimalism

Hello Lover,

My outfit today had very minimal color; this seldom happens.
I thrifted this cape(?) a while ago and I LOVE the shape and the placement of the three tones on it!
Please excuse me as I didn't have anyone to take full outfit pics of me.
Check out the outfit !

Review: MUFE - HD Complexion Starter Kit

Hello Lover,

A few weeks ago I received an email from a PR Exec for Make Up For Ever Canada.
I was honestly giddy with excitement because I'm always under the spell of the amazing pigments that the brand has in Sephora. After a few emails back and forth I got to meet her when she flew to Halifax from Montreal.  I had an awesome time meeting with her to learn more about the brand and getting to sit in a chair and let a brand specialist teach me a few tricks!
I'm proudly (HA!) baring my sans make-up face to show you how AMAZING the Make Up For Ever HD Complexion Starter Kit is.

"HD Complexion Starter Kit features three must-have HD Complexion products paired with an HD Invisible Cover Foundation shade of your choice. For prepping the skin, HD Microperfecting Primer is a lightweight oil-free formula that minimizes the appearance of pores. Cover imperfections with HD Invisible Cover Foundation to invisibly camouflage flaws while nourishing the skin and protecting it from dryness. Finish with award-winning HD Microfinish Powder, a 100% mineral silica formula that adds a soft-focus effect to the complexion. Apply it with the HD Kabuki Brush to create a truly perfect finish." [source]

I have used the product for almost a week now and I love it.  The foundation is SO lightweight that it feels like it's almost not there.  I don't have the best skin and sometimes I need an extra layer of coverage on some problem areas. I love that the foundation is buildable while remaining light.  However, my favorite part of the process is when I apply the HD Microfinish Powder with the ultra soft HD Kabuki brush.  The proof is in the pictures!   The last picture shows how important that last step is in making that flawless and confidence enhancing look!
Most days I am a minimal make up kinda girl so I completed my look with Maybelline Illegal Lengths Mascara and Rimmel In Vogue Lipstick! I have a few friends already using this kit and are beyond happy with it! Visit your nearest Sephora and get a chance to try out the process and get your own kit!

pictures are NOT retouched.

My new addiction

Hello Lover,

I've always been the one that says "I never win anything!" ... until now..
In the last 4 days I have won 2 things. First I won a gym membership for the whole summer (now I have no excuse to not work out HA!) and then yesterday I won a Blackberry Playbook! I'm a ticket holder for an event I'm going to this Saturday which made me eligible to win.  After getting it delivered to me I couldn't put it down, it's safe to say I am addicted to it now.
A big thank you to Dream Entertainment for the tech and I can't wait to dance my butt off on Saturday at the event you are hosting!
Check me and my new gadget out!
Sending all positive vibes happening to me to you!
